SUCCESSFUL RUN OF “ANYƐLEY THE LANDLADY” LEAVES CAST AND CREW REFLECTING ON FEEDBACK AND FUTURE PLANS

On March 29th, 2024, at 3 pm, the cast, crew, and Director convened at the Kritik production office in Dzorwulu to have a debrief and a comprehensive post-mortem discussion on the recent theatrical production, "Anyɛley The Landlady.” The play, directed by Mr. Adjetey Anang and Mr. Eyram Evans Adorkor, had its performances at the Efua T Sutherland (E.T.S) Drama Studio, Legon, on March 23rd and 24th, 2024, at 5:30 pm, drawing significant attention from audiences for its immersive storytelling and vibrant performances infused with cultural motifs.

The casts and crew for the production included Adjetey Anang, Eyram Evans Adorkor, Makida El Husseini, Dorcas Elorm Yawa Nimo, Ernest Akpakli, Redeemer Selorm Kadbry, Ransford Amegbor, ⁠Henry Biney, ⁠Sherrie Sheila Sappor, Cynthia Mawenam Denyoh, Blessing Pearl Sackey, Obed Elorm Kofi Ewedanu, Michael K.  Anaman, Adwoa Anima, Donkor Kelvin, Nella Tsigbe and Lambert Dzah.

The meeting commenced with individual reflections and feedback from the cast and crew members. Ernest Akpakli, who portrayed the character Amarkwei, highlighted the audience's appreciation for the cast's post-play interaction. 

Sherrie Sheila Sappor, embodying the character Vida, relayed feedback regarding ticket pricing, emphasizing that attendees deemed the play's value exceeded its cost and expressed interest in future productions. Redeemer Selorm Kadbry, portraying a key character in the play as Pappy, echoed positive sentiments surrounding his role, while Henry Biney, in the role of Pastor Moses, lamented low turnout on the people he specifically invited; despite positive reviews from those who attended, highlighting the resonance of his lines with the audience.

Blessing Pearl Sackey, who portrayed Mrs. Jones, expressed her delight in the audience's enthusiasm post-play, reflecting on her freedom and lack of inhibition despite it being her first production with Kritik. Dorcas Elorm Yawa Nimo, embodying the titular character Anyɛley, shared encounters with longstanding Kritik fans who commended the production's quality, echoing sentiments of excitement and pride.

Michael K. Anaman, playing Daapah, echoed positive audience reactions, noting their awe at the performances. Notably, interactions with Dr. Lawrencia Agyepong, UTAG President - UniMAC branch, revealed a desire for increased student involvement in future productions, with promises of logistical support.

Cynthia Mawenam Denyoh, as Akuorkor, and Makida El Husseini, as Yawa, reiterated audience intrigue and enjoyment, particularly in grasping thematic elements such as rent exploitation and social issues. Additionally, highlighting that during their Good Friday church service, Rev. John Lawrence Fuakye and his beloved wife, Rev. Mrs. Jeanee Fuakye, who came to watch the captivating theatre production expressed profound admiration for the exceptional quality of the stage play. They particularly highlighted the remarkable talents of Mr. Adjetey Anang and Mr. Eyram Evans Adorkor, acknowledging them as instrumental in nurturing the next generation of skillful actors.
Ransford Amegbor, playing Issaka, shared similarly positive feedback, underscoring the play's impact on its viewers.

Director Mr. Eyram Evans Adorkor reflected on endorsements from notable figures such as Dr. Rebecca Ohene Asah and Mr. Bossompim, expressing intent to rerun the production; hopefully in June or July. He emphasized the collective effort behind the production's success, highlighting the importance of teamwork.

The meeting culminated in a reflective session led by the CEO of Kritik Production;  who is the Writer, Artistic Director, and producer of the play ‘Any3ley, the Landlady’; Mr. Eyram Evans Adorkor, drawing parallels between biblical narratives and personal accountability within the production context. Thought-provoking questions challenged individuals to assess their contributions, motivations, and spiritual alignment.

The session concluded with expressions of gratitude as envelopes were distributed to acknowledge the cast and crew's hard work and dedication, underscoring the collaborative spirit driving Kritik Productions forward.
